Little Luxuries // The Great Gatsby

"I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes and felt it in others-young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most poignant moments of night and life."  ~ The Great Gatsby

I cannot wait for the premier of "The Great Gatsby" tonight!  I spoke with my mom about it yesterday and she had said the 1970's adaption featuring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow was quite boring.  I confess I am most excited about the extravagant costumes, set decoration and unique soundtrack.

Art Deco is a design style that originated in France (of course!) in the 1920's and thrived internationally  in the 1930's and 1940's. It's bold geometric designs, vibrant colors and strong lines can be seen in architecture, interior design, clothing and jewelry.  To me, the Art Deco movement represents a time of contradictions--opulence and poverty, decadence and depression.
