The Abstract Floor

"Graffiti is linear and it's done with a pencil, and it's like writing on walls.  In my paintings,  it's more lyrical."  Cy Twombly

I was stunned silent [which is saying a lot!] when I first saw the rock 'n roll inspired living room created by the talented  Catherine Kwong at the this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase.  It is a perfect balance between modern and traditional glamour.  The beauty and simplicity of the brass and white chairs were the first to catch my eye.  I think these babies would love to come live in my house.  Just sayin'.  However, the magnificent midnight blue floors which are painted in a bold, abstract fashion are my favorite part of this room.  They were inspired by the amazing work of  Cy Twombly.  I love when inspiration is translated into something totally unique and unexpected.  They make me want to take a large paint brush to my own hardwood floors....

My favorite Cy Twombly piece, 1985.

Have the best day ever!
