Tour of Florida

"A vacation is a sunburn at premium prices."  ~ Hal Chadwicke

If you follow me on Instagram, I have been driving you nuts with pics of our Florida tour 2013.  I am sorry, but I am so inspired by the beach and palm trees. I just find them so beautiful and can't stop snapping away! We have spent the last two weeks exploring a few cities in Florida which has been so much fun and so exhausting.

First stop... St. Pete Beach where we attended a beautiful beach wedding.  I can't think of a better place to begin your journey with someone.  There we enjoyed many family members while chilling on the beach between thunderstorms.  It was great but much too short.

Next stop was the magnificent West Palm Beach.  As I said before, I have always wanted to visit.  It was just as fancy pants as I had always thought.  Luckily, Andrew and girls accept my obsession with architecture and humored me while I swooned.  I think my mouth was open for most of the trip.  I was in awe of the extravagant character of the homes-each with it's own unique personality and charm.

We drove through the richy rich neighborhoods and snapped some inspiration photos of the houses I could actually see.  The residents here are serious about their hedges.  They were twenty feet high or more!  Is it possible they don't want goofballs like me gawking into their homes? Hmmm...... I didn't think so either.

Get out!  This driveway is stunning.  I would LOVE to do this.  Perhaps in our next home....

See what I mean?  This is one major hedge.  Can you imagine the kind of time it takes to maintain this beast?  It did not deter me one second from taking the photo.  I wasn't trying to be impolite.  I just appreciate the beauty of older architecture so much that I need to capture it.  Also, I cannot seem to pass up a traditional white home with black shutters.

I managed to squeeze in a bit of browsing on Antique Row.  Once I get my photos together, I will post about that as well.  If you admire Palm Beach style decor, get ready.  I took many photos but ended up only buying a coffee table book.  There was so much beauty in these joints, my eyes were hurting!

Our final Florida stop was Orlando.  We were here only a few days but the hotel was off..the..hook!  We laid like slugs by the pool and drifted down down the lazy river happily chatting away.  This was the most relaxing part of our trip.  We didn't keep a schedule and used this time to just exhale. Ahhhh........

The food was unbelievable!  I snapped a photo of the menu so I could make the salads once we returned home.  Speaking of, I will be eating nothing but salads for a long time.  Two full weeks on the road with nothing but junk food can make a girl polluted.  I did not say no to sugar once.

It was an amazing vacation and I am truly grateful.  The girls got along most of the time and (thanks to Andrew's cell getting soaked in the rain early in the trip) we didn't have to share him with work calls.  It was a fun family vacation filled with memories, laughter and love.  Isn't that what it's all about?

Have the best day ever!

  1. I knew you would die over Palm Beach! It is fabulous... We were actually involved in a car accident there looking at the homes one night after dinner because of those darn hedges! What hotel did you relax at in Orlando?

    1. It was sooo gorge but Andrew did comment on the safety issues of the hedges. You could NOT see who was coming the other way!

We stayed at the JW Marriott. It was crazy nice. I had no idea! It was a great surprise.

Thank you for stopping by. I love hearing your thoughts. :)
