Interior Inspiration // Sara Story

"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art."  ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

When I was sixteen, my friend and I would sit in the driveway looking up at the stars and talking about our future.  She wanted so badly to marry and begin a family right away.  The thought of this made me feel queasy.  I wanted to travel and have a chic little apartment in the city.  Not the city of Cincinnati, mind you.  I was thinking more along the lines of Manhattan, or possibly Paris. Oui! Unfortunately, I never moved to either fabulous city, although I did live in Boston for many years in my 20's.  It was glorious and everything I thought city life could be.

Upon beginning our little family, I craved the suburban life and all the barbecues one could possibly handle. Fast forward a few years and I am ready to break up with the homogenized utopia of this environment. While we most likely would never move our kids into the city, there are times I wish we had a sweet pad tucked away in busy streets for weekends.

I find myself living vicariously through the masterful designs of Sara Story.  If you are going to place in the city, this is the way to do it.  These urban chic spaces lean toward the masculine which I love.  Sara also has an amazing eye for sculptural beauty.  She uses this talent extensively which creates rooms that are glamorous and artistic.

This cozy living room has an elegant retro vibe.  I love the soft butter chesterfield.

Stop it!  Get out!  While I may add some fresh flowers to the bar, I am crazy for these elements.  This space shows great restraint in just using layered textural elements for interest.  This would be Andrew's dream room.

The bright fuchsia ceiling and geometric flooring give this clean, simple  kitchen tons of personality.
