On My Mind // September

"Too much of a good thing can be wonderful."  ~ Mae West

I love sharing a deal.  I don't understand the girls who "forgot" where they purchased something when asked. It drives me nuts!  I will not only tell you, I will also tell you the price and exactly what shelf to find it.  There is nothing as exciting as finding something truly lovely and paying next to nothing.  So, on with my story.

I have been wanting to add a chunky-heeled shoe to my closet for a while now.  I needed something chic but comfortable so I could run around town all day.  Enter Liza.  She is a sophisticated snakeskin print and a little on the thick side.  It's ok though.  We talked and she is completely comfortable with herself, and well she should be.  She is on sale right now and I had a few rewards bucks tucked away for a rainy day. This shoe was originally $120 but with the sale and my coupon, I paid [drum roll, please...] just $15!  I know, right?

I adore most things French, so it is no surprise that I love the vocal stylings of Carla Bruni.  I just bought her album, Little French Songs, and have been listening to it non-stop this week while working.  Her dreamy tunes make me want to wear a beret and get back to my Rosetta Stone.

To me, autumn seems the time to dress up a little more.  The crisp chill in the air welcomes layers of style and richer tones.  I love the darker nail polish shades I see girls wearing but have always felt I would look too "Vampira" if I tried.  I recently purchased Essie's Wicked and have changed my tune.  It is a lush blackish-red color that is a little naughty.

Meet Kennedy. [sigh....]  I am positive you are tired of hearing my thoughts on purchasing the perfect sofa.  I am tired of hearing myself, believe me.  I have had my eye on a beautiful tuxedo sofa from Horchow for the last six months.  I had it pinned on my inspiration board, ready and waiting for me to make the purchase. However, I came across this gorgeous beast while doing research for a client.  I am crazy for the clean lines and sophisticated restraint.  I wanted a deeper tuft but find myself picturing us all snuggled up on it.

I cannot deny The Notebook is my all-time favorite movie.  I have watched it more times than I care to admit.  It is the perfect romantic movie.  It has all the elements that make a girl weak in the knees - breathtaking romance, Ryan Gosling, amazing soundtrack, Charleston in the 1940's, heart-wrenching love, did I mention Ryan Gosling?  I just watched it again for the billionth time and it never gets old.  I still swoon and I still cry.

I am completely inspired by the gallery in Anna Wintour's office.  I love the sophisticated, eclectic feel.  I would like to try something similar on a wall in our boudoir.

We are apple eating fools in this house.  I have decided that even though it is still in the upper 90's, I am going to hang the wreaths on the doors, turn the football up and cook hearty, fall foods.  I came across this delicious looking recipe for apple crisp from the folks at Better Homes and Gardens. I think I will give it a try this weekend. YUM! I will make sure to save you a piece.

I am always mixing up my playlist for the treadmill.  It can be quite boring and the music is the only thing that keeps me going.  I have been listening to a lot of Temper Trap lately.  My favorite is Trembling Hands. I just found the acoustic version online.  In a word - amazing!

Have the best weekend ever!
