Drool Worthy || The Homes of Ellen Rakieten

"In my view, no space without natural light is worthy of human occupation."
~ John Saladino

If, like me, you love all things chic and have a pulse, you spent many hours drooling over the beauty of Ellen Rakieten's Chicago home.  This stunning apartment was the result of the talented collaboration between Anne Coyle and Nate Berkus.  I love how they successfully combined pieces from different eras, styles and origins to create a livable, high-end space.

I love the eclectic mix of glamorous pieces, especially the killer coffee table.

Who can forget this incredible dressing room...

It has been two years since the above jewel was unveiled.  Ellen owns her own production company in Los Angeles, so she and her family also purchased an apartment in the iconic Sierra Towers. She went back to friend Anne Coyle for a little design magic. This home has the same elegance as the other but with a lighter California approach.

It's funny how our tastes evolve over time.  It is so subtle, we may not even notice at first.  I remember thinking Ellen's home in Chicago was stunning.  I still feel that way but have gotten more simple in my own taste.  This apartment is just that - light-filled, airy and filled with delicious mid century modern goodies like the Milo Baughman sofa and Pierre Cardin poufs.

The use of mirrors and transparent pieces expand and create a brighter space.

Ikea chairs paired with a vintage table create the perfect breakfast nook with the perfect view. Wow...just wow!!

Oh, sweet serenity, this looks welcoming.  The feminine headboard is covered in a Bob Collins & Sons floral.  I am also loving the clean lines of the Anne Coyle Interiors nightstands.

The best for last.  Can you imagine looking out over Beverly Hills while working in this sunny space?  Yes..I..can.

Have a beautiful day!
